At Redlands Aikikai, we host a variety of events throughout the year, including workshops with guest instructors, special classes focusing on unique techniques, and community gatherings to enhance your martial arts practice. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, there’s something for everyone.
These workshops seek to transmit the principles and practice of Saotome Shihan’s teachings with bokken and jo.
Aiki Staff Workshop:
Saturday, October 4, 2026
Time: Session 1: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Session 2: 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Cost: $35 per session; $60 whole day
Pre-requisite: Jo suburi (solo staff forms, as in videos by Senseis such as Saotome, Ikeda or Saito). Having practiced kumijo (partner forms) will be helpful. Students enrolling in the workshop and wanting to practice basic partner interactions are welcome to attend a prior Sunday (Sept. 27) at our Dojo (10:30 am - 12:30 pm).
10:00 am - 12:30 pm: Selections from Kumijo 1-6 and jo tori
2:30 pm - 5:00 pm: Selections from Kumijo 7-16: the patrol kata, and jo nage
